Standard Deduction for Certain Filers. This form is used by individual taxpayers if they have paid state or local real estate taxes during the year, if they have incurred a net disaster loss, or if they have paid state or local sales or excise taxes (or certain other taxes or fees in a state without a sales tax) for the purchase of any new motor vehicle. This is referred to as Schedule L.
