Dow divisor

A number used to calculate the Dow Jones Industrial Average. When a company gives out stock dividends or stock splits, the stock price changes although the value of the company remains the same. To make the stock index consistent, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is used to account for actions that do not change the company's value.
