A reserve fund set up in 2001 one by the government of Republic of Ireland (RoI) with the aim of meeting the cost of the social welfare and public pensions of RoI from 2015. The fund is managed by the national pensions reserve fund commission, who is responsible for investing the fund, guided by the statutory investment policy with the aim of securing the best possible financial returns under risk acceptable to the commission. The total fund size in March 2011 was estimated at $32.5 billion.
