statistical arbitrage

An attempt to profit from pricing inefficiencies that are identified through the use of mathematical models. Statistical arbitrage attempts to profit from the likelihood that prices will trend toward a historical norm. Unlike pure arbitrage, statistical arbitrage is not riskless.
