committed capital

A contractual agreement occurring between a venture capital fund and an investor which obligates the investor to contribute monies to a fund. The investor has the option to pay in all committed capital at one time or to make periodic contributions to the fund. The contract length usually involves a span of a number of years, usually 3-5.
