efficient set of portfolios

A graphical display in which the expected return on a set of portfolios is plotted against risk. Each level of risk is assigned what is thought to be the most efficient appropriate portfolio. The portfolios are plotted on a graph, with risk as the x-axis and expected return as the y-axis.
