impact analysis

A management-level, structural approach utilized by an organization to determine the extent of negative effects of change originating from a proposed policy decision or project implementation. Usually conducted as a collective brainstorming exercise by effected departments to identify potential problems or costs associated with change and then find ways to minimize its impact.
