industrial bond

A financing instrument used by local authorities to raise revenue for building projects that will benefit the community. The bond issuer retains ownership of the purchased assets and leases them back to the user which is the way the bond debt is ultimately retired. If the project is for a public purpose, the bond interest may be tax exempt at the state level.
