An option which allows a pensioner's joint and survivor pension to be reclassified as a basic pension if the survivor, generally a spouse, predeceases the pensioner. The joint and survivor pension has a lower monthly disbursement; exercising the pop-up option increases the pension payments to the single pensioner amount.
