S&L Crisis

Savings and loan crisis. Financial crisis occurring in the late 1980s to early 1990s where there was a wide-spread failure of over 700 savings and loans institutions across the US. This crisis cost US taxpayers over $100 billion dollars and created a recession and a large budget deficit in the early 1990s.
