transaction deposit

A deposit at a bank that can immediately be withdrawn, transferred, or otherwise used by the depositor without restrictions or limits. Banks are required to maintain reserves on hand to accommodate transaction deposits. Other types of deposits, such as savings deposits, generally have more restrictions governing their use.
